Some of the Projects that DWEENG Ltd has been involved in are detailed below to demonstrate the scope of work that the Company has experience in.

Boiler Upgrade:

  • Electrical Engineering design and drawings for fuel handling, John Thompson & Trevor Boilers.
  • Software simulation and testing boiler controls including:- 3 element drum control with auto charge to single element on low steam flow, Boiler pressure control, Control loop ID fan furnace pressure, Plant master controls, Automatic steam shedding & vent control, Modified controls to all steam related services around site, Commissioning, validation, training and start-up support.

Dairy Plant Ancillary Services:

  • Electrical Engineering & software control of water, waste water and other ancillary services for a new Dairy Plant. Tender documents
  • Electrical Engineering and software control of ancillary services for a new UHT plant. Tender documents

Wood Chip Infeed Upgrade:

  • Involving 28 motors, various input devices (eg limit switches and rotation sensors). All relay logic was replaced with PLC equipment and software simulated before installation. Commissioning time was significantly reduces due to efficient planning.

Press PLC Software upgrade:

  • Changed old PLC2, 3 & 5 logic into Control Logix with improved modern control methodologies.

MDF Finishing Line Saw upgrade:

  • Engineering design, investigation, CAPEX and software installation involving AB ControlLogix, HMI, DeviceNet Servo drives, PLC software.
  • Included commissioning and HMI implementation.

Logo & Bar Code printing:

  • Three different lines have been upgraded to Bar code and high resolution printing. This required investigation, CAPEX preparation, Engineering design, software and installation.
  • Equipment used: AB ControlLogix, AB PanelView, Patreon Marsh printers.

Geothermal Heat Exchangers:

  • This involved working with Mechanical engineers on 2 x 12MW and 1 x 8MW geothermal generators (E & I costs $750K).
  • DWEENG was involved with Electrical engineering design, project management, software functional description, instrumentation, tender documents, liaising with all contractors and the 2 clients.

Realistic Fire Training Building:

  • DWEENG was engaged to complete Electrical design along with PLC and HMI controls to provide better temperature monitoring of the building. A specification and drawings were produced for tender purposes.
  • Detailed Electrical and Software engineering.
  • Reporting & Construction Management.

Tissue Mill: Various projects including:

  • PM2 Drives upgrade: Electrical engineering & software. Paper machine PLC5to ControlLogix software conversion and control changes on Reel Arm system. Created "design & build" document, project & control management, contract monitoring, commissioning.
  • Machine Guarding projects.

Rural Fire Station Electrical Upgrade:

  • Assess Fire Stations for Electrical upgrade.
  • Prepare tender documents for work required following Electrical assessment.
  • Design generator to supply critical services.

Pulp & Paper Mills: various projects including

  • Complete E & I Project for $24 million upgrade involving MCC Design & Control, DCS connection & 120 control loops. Vendor evaluation, electrical engineering design & project management, Hazardous Area design.
  • Machine Guarding project mostly on the Baling Line.
  • Sensodec No6 Paper Machine Vibration monitoring system- completed all aspects of Engineering design to vendors specifications including mechanical & electrical installation. Project management for all the various stages of installation.
  • PLC Recovery boiler upgrade- Head engineer to oversee the replacement of a 5/250PLC with a ControlLogix PLC.
  • Paper machine rapid improvement project.
  • Reel Crane.
  • Pulp Bale Line upgrade- included ControlLogix PLCs (2 x L63), RS View HMI interface, mainframe data communications, scale, moisture measurement, inkjet printing and laser scanning. Completed Full project management, electrical design, drawings and installation supervision, PLC simulation and commissioning. A PLC3 and 2 x PLC5s with over 1000 I/Os were replaced. The existing 1771/I/O was not changed. A core group of 4 engineers worked on this for 7 months.

District Council Waste Water Treatment Plants- several upgrades

  • Involved Pump station Electrical design & controls, Functional description.
  • Engineering investigation, design & specification, reports with costing and control options, Electrical drawings & Specification.
  • Involved MCC & PLC design, installation & Commission control.
  • Remote plant Telemetry project- investigate communisations options & Protocols, engineering design & specification.

Dairy Farm:

  • Hydro/Solar power investigation to determine the feasibility and cost effectiveness as the sole source of electrical supply to the farm.

Marina upgrades (x 2)

  • Electrical consultant, Electrical design & software automation.

Timber Mill Kiln Fire Rebuild:

  • Insurance assessment and rebuild of the Switch Room, Easteel Boiler, Renewable energy boiler and controls to 4 kilns.
  • Completed all the electrical design and project management.

Insurance Company

  • Fire investigation for insurance purposes.

  • Budget pricing for CAPEX submissions.
